D.O.O.R. was born In the heart of Rome, in front of the gasometer. It is a multi-functional studio for the conception, the realization and the spread of the visual culture. A door that becomes a space. A space that becomes a factory. It is not a matter of terminological arrogance, but it relates to the ambition to create by sharing. From shooting to editing, from trustee to publishing, and talenting, D.O.O.R. offers professional services and creates synergies with other similar realities of the world of image.
Every day the door opens to do something new.
DOOR Educational is growing up. After some years of DOOR Academy where we had the chance to work with talented authors like Ricardo Cases, Federico Clavarino, Max Pinckers, Antonio Xoubanova, Nicolò De Giorgis, Rafal Milach, Anja Nalecka, Martin Kollar, Aleix Plademunt, Bertien Van Manen , Anouk Kruitof Joan Fontcuberta, we decided to propose a six months master about the photobook which will be proposed as a single course or as a next step to the Academy. Eleven authors/teachers, all working with photobooks with a really personal, strong and coherent approach, three tutors, two workshops, six on line lectures will work hard about the culture of the photobook and the strenght of its language.
A master about the photobook. Our goal is to create the course that we would have liked to have when we were students. Because of its absence, we were forced to build a complementary vision as authors, designers, publishers and critics, one that has become fundamental in the last decade. A theoretical and practical master, mixing the personal experience in the editing, the design and the production process of a book dummy with the history of the photobook and the strong teaching of consolidated authors. A master where the experimentation will prevail and will be based on students’ proposals, to develop coherent results for any personal project.
Six months: the total duration of the Master. Three Tutors: Ricardo Cases, Massimo Mastrorillo and Antonio Xoubanova will teach, analyse the proposal of the students, work on editing, sequencing and the final production during three intensive meetings in Rome and gradually online. Two workshops: Jeffrey Ladd will have a two days workshop about the History of Photobook and Gregoire Pujade-Lauraine will have a two day workshop about photo projects and graphic design. Six on line talks: J Carrier, Jason Fulford, Eloi Gimeno, Hans Gremmen, Ed Panar and Giuliana Prucca, will have on line talks where they will share their experience as authors and graphic designers working with photobooks.
Total: 1600 euros. Enrollment fee: 600 euros. Four monthly payments of 250 euros.
